Welcome to my website! Here are materials supporting the application for a digital content development grant for the Jacksonville State University Department of English.
EH 331: Writing for Social Media Course Materials
EH 331 is JSU English’s course on user research, content strategy, and social media management. Students spend the first 10 weeks of the semester gaining skills in social media research, writing, and design, before applying those skills to create social media strategy and content for a community partner during the final 6 weeks.
Here you’ll find the Fall 2022 syllabus and course calendar for EH 331 (calendar subject to change based on grant award).
The final project for EH 331 connects teams of students with a community partner client to build social media strategy and content for real-world application. Here is the assignment description for that project from Fall 2021.
Examples of Student Work
In Fall 2021, EH 331 students took on the JSU Writing Center as their client. Three teams of students conducted research on the target audiences for the Writing Center and built strategy and content designed to reach these users. Examples of the students’ final deliverables are provided below.
In Spring 2022, one of these EH 331 students (Katelyn Miskelley, now Digital Marketing Specialist at the SERVPRO corporate office in Nashville, TN) implemented the class’ social media strategy to build Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts for the Writing Center. Links to the content she created are provided below.
